Recovery Retreat

Welcome to Azure Recovery Retreat, where our aim is to provide you with a relaxing, refreshing holiday with a difference.  Azure Recovery Retreat’s small boutique hotel is set in a fragrant mandarin grove nestled in a peaceful corner of Turgutreis, on the Bodrum peninsular.

This year we are hosting our fourth recovery retreat, with Counselling Psychologist Dr. Clemmie Jacques. Clemmie is in recovery herself and works for both the Priory and NHS as a specialist in the field of dependency, as well as other related mental wellbeing concerns.

Clemmie has designed this week to focus on building recovery gains, emotional growth, physical well-being, and relaxation. As well as therapeutic workshops, this retreat includes yoga, meditation,
delicious vegetarian food, activities, excursions and plenty of time for fun in the sun.

We at Azure wanted to host this kind of a retreat because we truly believe that azure offers the change to have a lovely relaxing holiday, away from all the crowds and alcohol focused activities. Our retreat
is a safe space for those hoping to enjoy a holiday and stay close to their recovery aims, in a supportive environment.

This retreat is aimed at those in early but stable recovery from alcoholism, substance and behavioural addictions. It’s ideal for those wanting to continue or enhance their journey towards this goal.

Dates: May 29 – June 5 2020

We will also provide 5 workshops, which will take place over the course of the week.

Introduction Workshop – To allow each of you to share your hopes for the retreat and what you wish to gain from it.

Tree of Life – A strengths-based way of telling your story.

Mindfulness – Discussing it’s benefits and a practice session.

Compassion – To enable you to find a deeper sense of self-acceptance.

Beyond Dependence – To explore the joys of what recovery can offer you.

Daily Timetable:

The retreat centres around twice daily yoga classes (these are completely optional – you can do as much or as little yoga as you wish) which are aimed at all levels, from beginner to advanced. If you’re a newbie, don’t worry! What we love about yoga is that it is a practice that is inherently flexible. It can be modified to cater for “everybody” – regardless of size, shape, physical ability, age or sex. There are no strict regimes, do as little or as much as you like, with expert guidance in a laid back, friendly atmosphere. It’s your holiday – we want you to have fun!

We start the day with yoga and breakfast, then you’ll be free to relax and explore the local surroundings at your leisure before meeting again in the late afternoon for a second yoga session. By the end of the day, your mind will feel at ease, your body alive with a fresh sense of rejuvenation, and your spirit awakened with exuberance.

For those who just want to chill out, we have a sun-drenched swimming pool complete with sun loungers, as well as a quiet spots for meditation and contemplation.
The beach is less than 3 minutes walk away, and heading into town is an easy 20 mins walk or an inexpensive cab ride.

Visit to the Hammam for a Turkish bath, sauna and steam followed by trained therapists lathering your body with olive oil soap suds, an olive oil massage and gentle exfoliation – you will have never felt SO clean!

Just a short distance away and accessible by public transport you will find Bodrum, steeped in history, busy, and bustling, or visit nearby Gumusluk, which is an old Greek fishing village with a slow pace of life, where you can purchase local crafts, and lunch or dine in one of the many outstanding fish restaurants.

The retreat is perfect for single travellers – with meal times and yoga classes being communal, as well as lots of free time to hang out together and make friends. This really is the perfect break for those wanting to unwind and reconnect with their recovery, surrounded by other like-minded souls (and with a lot of laughter and fun in the mix). Azure recovery retreat shows no discrimination and welcomes everyone regardless of height, body size, age, gender, race ability, denomination, and orientation.

If this sounds like the holiday for you we’d love for you to join us!
